If you’re like me and have a bedroom with slanted walls, you probably find it challenging to decorate. I know I do.
However, with the right approach, you can turn this unique architectural feature into a design asset. A blessing, not a curse.
In this blog post, we’ll give you some tips on how best to decorate a bedroom with slanted walls, as well as answering some common questions we face when working with slanted wall bedrooms.
Let’s take a look.
Rather than trying to hide the slanted walls, embrace them!
Make the angles a feature of the room by highlighting them with contrasting colors and/or textures.
One way to do this is to paint the slanted wall a different color than the rest of the room. Or, you could use a nice patterned wallpaper that both looks lovely and is distinctive from the other walls in your room.
Another way to do this is to use different materials, such as wood paneling or tiles, to create a visual contrast between the slanted walls and the rest of the room.
As well, sloped walls provide the perfect angles on which to place standing full-length mirrors, as we speak more about here, further embracing the angles.
Another way to make the most of slanted walls is to create a focal point that draws the eye away from them. The goal here is to place something in front of the wall itself to draw the user’s attention away from the fact that it is slanted.
This could be a statement piece of furniture, such as a four-poster bed (one of those cool old-fashioned beds that has a post in each corner) or a sectional sofa (my personal favorite!).
Another idea is to use lighting to create a focal point away from the wall itself – a good way to do this is with a pendant light that hangs from the highest point of the slanted ceiling.
To do this, you’ll need a sloped ceiling adapter:

Lastly, when decorating a bedroom with slanted walls, the last thing you want to do is overload the space with too many decorative elements. Keep it simple.
You can do this with a few well-chosen pieces that complement the sloped wall, creating a calm and relaxed space that feels both uncluttered and spacious.
We recommend a nice houseplant such as a Yucca plant or a Money Tree plant (featured below), a simple yet stylish coffee table and chair set, or even (if your budget allows) a custom-built sloped shelf that works with the sloped wall.

While decorating a bedroom with slanted walls may seem daunting at first, if you stick to a few basic ideas you have nothing to worry about.
By embracing the angles you’ve been given, creating a focal point for the room, and above all else keeping it simple, you can create a unique and inviting space that is stylish, functional, and that you can be proud of showing off to friends and family.
It is very common for your bedroom to have slanted walls if you also have a vaulted ceiling. And these vaulted ceilings can be a nightmare to light well if you don’t know what you’re doing.
Luckily, Cavelights Store has a brilliant guide on lighting vaulted ceilings with multiple different kinds of lights – from recessed lights through to chandeliers.
When choosing furniture for your slanted wall bedroom, there are a few tips you should keep in mind, including opting for low-profile pieces and embracing asymmetry wherever possible.

If you’ve taken our advice and chosen to install a brilliant single pendant light like the Nordic Coloured Glass Pendant Light, you’ll likely want to know how to install it!
Again, Cavelights Store has us covered with an in-depth guide detailing exactly how to do it.
